The file transfer menus let you transfer files either way (from the host to the remove or vice-versa)īut, if you do need full remote control, just leave the default "full control" box checked instead. If you simply check the file transfer only check box when entering the target PC's TeamViewer ID, you get a lighter version of the client optimized for file transfers to/from the host PC if you don't need full remote control. When you load TeamViewer and want to access another PC remotely, you'll see check boxes on the main login screen for "file transfer only" or "full control".
I am very happy to see that both come w/truely portable versions so that I can even access my files/cptr when using my computers at work. It seems that Teamviewer is the way to go for full control and that Tonido is an excellent choice for file only access. Thanks to all that shared their experience.
My desktop is connected to the net via a decent quality Netgear router. It will be connected to my (sleeping) desktop and I would like to access it from remote locations.
I understand that I can do the same with an NAS but I plan to build an external RAID array for all my data and for hd video editing. I have heard of solutions like pc anywhere, but it seems to offer full control which I don't think I need, but it'd be occasionally useful to have such control. What is the best way to access the files on your home system from remote locations over an internet connection.
